Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service This course was originally developed by AK Training for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service who were looking for a comprehensive, IRTEC accredited vehicle electrical systems and diagnostics course for their vehicle technicians. Course development was undertaken in close consultation with Mersey Fire Service and the Institute of Road Transport Engineers who subsequently approved the course as an IRTEC supplementary module at Advanced Technician level.
The course was delivered as part of an ongoing staff training and development programme undertaken by Merseyside Fire Service to have their technicians licensed under the IRTEC Technician Licensing programme. The technicians are now accredited with a supplementary module at Advanced Level towards obtaining their IRTEC licence. This course is available to other fire and rescue services for on site delivery at clients premises or it can be delivered from the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Safety Training Centre at Croxteth, Liverpool (clients would need to supply suitable vehicles). It is also available to the general heavy vehicle motor industry where suitable facilities (classroom, workshop space and vehicles) are available . For further information, contact AK Training.
