Vehicle electrical fault finding techniquesDigital multi-meters and fault finding techniques Course practical activities involve extensive use of digital multi meter's, multi meter accessories and special functions. Delegates will understand how to take accurate test measurements and evaluate the results. The session covers bar graphs, min/max functions, touch/hold features, use of amps clamps and practical circuit testing techniques using a digital multi meter. Relays The course explains ISO and DIN standards for relays including micro, mini and super relays and electronic relays in detail. Delegates will understand how to test relay inputs and outputs.
Wiring diagrams and Autodata CD3 Reading and understanding wiring diagrams is an essential part of carrying out successful fault finding. This part of the course covers wiring diagram layouts in detail and also explains the Autodata CD3 workshop information system. Delegates carry out a range of practical tasks using Autodata in conjunction with test equipment on live vehicles. Batteries, charging and starting systems This session covers testing and diagnosis of batteries, charging and starting systems using multi meter's, diagnostic equipment and oscilloscopes.
Delegates will understand how to assess battery state of charge and health using a multi meter. They will appreciate the use of digital battery analyzers and smart battery chargers for service and maintenance routines. They will be able to analyze alternator charge ripple using an oscilloscope and diagnose starting system faults. The course show cases the Midtronics Inspect 65 battery tester, the CTEK multi XS 25000 smart pulse charger and PicoScope automotive oscilloscope.
