Oscilloscopes andDiagnostic TechniquesThis is a two day, advanced level diagnostics course. It is aimed at experienced technicians who would like to further develop their knowledge and diagnostic skills. The course covers the following main subjects:

Those who are either new to oscilloscopes or are considering purchasing a scope would also find this course to be very useful. Course aims and objectives are to give a detailed practical overview of an oscilloscope and how to use a scope for carrying out testing and diagnosis of vehicle system faults. Practical activities include testing and diagnosis of engine management and body related systems and components, sensors and actuators, digital signals and CAN bus. The course also covers some of the more advanced features of an oscilloscope to include digital storage and multi channel facilities, downloading and saving scope traces onto PC, interaction of oscilloscope with workshop information systems, and use of various accessories such as amps clamps and ignition probes. There is an end of course assessment and those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate from AK Training in recognition of their attendance.

The course showcases the well known PC based oscilloscope from Pico Technology and the hand held Fluke 123 scope meter. Delegates are welcome to bring their own scope for use on the course if they wish.
Delegates will learn how to adjust and manipulate the oscilloscope settings to optimize viewing and analysis of electrical signals and waveforms. By the end of the course, delegates will be able to apply what they have learnt to assist with carrying out effective testing and diagnosis of vehicle electronic systems using an oscilloscope. |
