Summary of courses and events 2009

Thursday 10th December 2009

2009 has been another healthy mixture of new and repeat business for AK Training. Having just returned to the UK from delivering a successful course programme in Jersey, there is further new business on the horizon with new opportunities for 2010 both in the UK and overseas.

The course schedule for first quarter 2010 is now available on the course dates and venues page. Several courses are under review including vehicle electrics module 2 and there is new course development under way for 2010 including a body electrics course and several product courses.

Earlier in the year, technicians working for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Fire Service were renewing their IRTEC licenses at Master Technician Level. AK Training provided the three supplementary modules required. The IRTE accredited AK Training's oscilloscope course at master technician level.

States of Jersey Government requested another ten day comprehensive course programme to ukskill staff working in the Transport and Technicial Services workshops. This course was delivered in January and had certified recognition from IMI Awards Ltd. The course was a follow on from AK Training's previous course delivered for the States of Jersey in 2007.

AK Training ran several course programmes this year from venues in Buckingham and at Northampton College. Northampton College in particular has excellent facilities, equipment and vehicles for delivery of such technical courses as petrol engine management diagnostics and common rail diesel fuel systems.

This year, there were more enquiries from overseas. Several delegates from Nigeria attended courses. There was repeat business from a delegate who travelled all the way from Tanzania and also one from Poland.

Several on site CPD course programmes were delivered for technical colleges throughout the year. These included Knowsley College and Sheffield College. Both colleges demonstrated a serious commitment to personal development with motor vehicle departments being closed to enable all staff to attend.

.

Despite an unsettled economy, it has still been possible for AK Training to invest in new equipment. In the autumn, a Tech II, a Carman Scan VG+ and VAG COM diagnostic scan tools were purchased, all of which are familiar tools to AK Training. This, along with new ventures with several tools and equipment suppliers now enables AK Training to develop new courses for 2010.

This year, AK Training has established further new links and associations with other companys. These include Tec-Stop in Worcester, Highlands College in Jersey and Ponder's Garage in Shipdham, Norfolk. AK Training has run several courses and evening technical events in association with these new partners and further events are planned for 2010. Please visit the website regularly to get the latest course news and updates.

Finally, I should like to say a big thank you to all of the companies, organizations and individuals with whom I have done business and who have supported AK Training throughout 2009.

In the meantime, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. I look forward to seeing you in 2010.
