Electrical components testing techniques

This two day technical course follows on from Vehicle electrical fault finding techniques.

The course covers the techniques required for successful fault finding and diagnosis of electrical components, specifically sensors and actuators, used in modern vehicle electrical systems. Course content includes the following main subjects:

  • Workshop practical sessions: sensors and actuators testing techniques
  • Practical fault finding and diagnosis
  • Course assessment

Course aims are to explain the function and operation of electrical components and how to test them using appropriate diagnostic equipment and technical information.

During the course, delegates learn how to test sensors and actuators using oscilloscopes and diagnostic equipment in conjucntiion with wiring diagrams and technical information. They will put into practice what they have learnt to diagnose faulty components.

By the end of the course, delegates will understand the operation of electrical components. They will be able to test both the electrical and mechanical functionality of components and understand what to look for.

Pre requisites

Those attending this course should be competent using a digital multi meter, be able to read wiring diagrams and have a thorough understandiing of electrical principles and circuit testing techniques. PC skills would also be useful at this level.
